Bill:
Well, we watched this being built. We’d been talking about
selling the house and moving into a place like this. I don’t
want anybody to have to take care of me. I don’t want my kids
to take care of me.
We came to the open house and we liked
the looks of it. Got the price and everything and went to our travel
trailer in Perham and we had all our figures from the year before,
what it cost, the garbage, insurance and all the rest of the stuff.
And we added it all up and what the price of the apartment is and
we figured we could come out even if not ahead.
We talked it over and we were convinced
that we were doing the right thing for us.
Carol:
Bill likes to fish in the summertime up North in our travel trailer.
So now we can go up there for two weeks at a time where before we
couldn’t do that. Whene we had the house we had to come back
for the yard work and get the mail and all the maintenance that
goes with the house.
Now we tell Tammy in the office that we’re going to be gone
and she graciously picks up our mail for us and when we get back
everything is just the way we left it and we don’t have to
worry about that kind of stuff anymore.
In the house we had two bedrooms we weren’t using and a more
formal living room and dining room that were used maybe two times
a year for the major holidays when the kids would come home. And
I got tired of cleaning when we weren’t using the house, you
know. So now this is all the room we have to have.
I know this doesn’t sound like much to the men, but there
are two laundry facilities on each floor, each laundry room has
three washers and three dryers and they don’t charge us for
that...
Bill:
You can walk the halls, you can get all the exercise you want and
never have to get cold. Last year I noticed I like the winters because
I never get cold. If want to go up to her mother’s to visit,
I take my coat, throw it in the back seat and we go up there. …
Carol:
After you’re here a while and get more acquainted with everybody
I think you begin to feel like it’s an extended family.
Bill:
Like Rod and Kay who are down in Arizona, I called them up on the
cell phone and visited with them for a while. So y’know, it’s
like a big happy family!
